The Power Of Fragrance

The Power Of Fragrance
Most of us are attracted to certain smells. Did you know that specific scents can be helpful for certain things? When we shop for fragrances we want something that appeals to us. When we burn candles, we want to fill our homes with certain fragrances. Scents can bring back memories of certain events, people, or periods of time. Let's say pumpkin pie brings back a beloved childhood memory. When you think about that memory, it makes you feel happy. So, you would want to have a pumpkin pie scented candle in your home. When you smell pumpkin pie, it makes you feel good. It's always great to keep a couple scents of your favorite fragrances around, because they make you feel good.
Scents: Why They're So Great
Aromatherapy really can benefit us. Of course, there's tons, and tons of different aromas. Some we love, like, dislike, and just plain hate. When you know the scents you're attracted to, you should have them around you more!
Lavender: This beautiful scent is known as a stress reliever. By usuing this scent, it can help relax you, and give you a sense of well-being.
Sandalwood: This wonderful scent is known to help soothe. Sandalwood is great for relaxing, when you need a sense of peace and calm.
Lemon: This distinct scent is quite the booster for energy. Lemon is the perfect scent for someone who feels the need to be more productive.
Peppermint: This vibrant scent is known to not only help you feel good, but feel better! Peppermint has been known to help with headaches, and nausea.
Ginger: This lovely scent is a stimulant. Ginger helps put you in a good mood, and make you feel happier.
Rose: This breathtaking scent (can you tell it's my favorite? lol) has been known to help folks with depression. Rose helps calm you, and has been known to make one feel more romantic.
Vanilla: This gorgeous scent is believed to be among the most powerful. Vanilla helps give a strong sense of comfort. Vanilla has also been proven to be the most arousing scent to men. (So wear more vanilla perfume ladies!)
Cinnamon: This comforting scent has also been said to be powerful. Cinnamon gives one a sense of well-being, as it also reminds many of sweets and baking. Cinnamon is also a scent that helps calm. Cinnamon is another scent men have been shown to be highly attracted to. ***Vanilla & Cinnamon, Hhhmmm... it's all just about food to men, lol :)
Jasmine: This charming scent is believed to be among the most beautiful aromas. Jasmine not only gives one a sense of relaxation, it is also said to help people feel more romantic.
Tangerine: This much-loved scent has been known to give a sense of happiness. Tangerine has also been known to be a great energy booster.
Rosemary: This very specific smelling scent has been known to help with clarity of the mind. Rosemary also makes one feel more alert.
Bring More Fragrance Into Your Life
I've used aromatherapy for different things. I truly believe scents can be a wonderful benefit to our lives. When I need calmness I use lavender, if I need more energy, I use something with lemon. There are many ways we can bring more of the smells we want into our homes, to help us. We can of course burn a candle, or use an essential oil. Scents are really more powerful, than what we give them credit for. Our favorite fragrances should be part of our daily lives.

Nifty: Great to see you! LOL! Cake, of course! Yes, sometimes people just load up with way too much perfume, then people just pay attention to them because they smell too strong, lol :)
Gee I think I am going to make a combo like I do my teas, no seriously I will bookmark this I have always loved Lavender, use it almost exclusively, maybe time to try some others, I remember using Sandalwood and loving it a few years back. Thanks much for the fan mail!
Very nice Mary, a nice fragrant is always welcome.
I've loved scents all my life and I confess that the longer I live the more I appreciate the most natural ones. I like your featuring them individually - and of course mixtures can be very exciting. I'm currently very fond of pomegranite and vetiver is so yummy!
By the way - chiggars are repelled by lavendar oil - so if you're likely to be where they are - you an protect yourself aromatically without smelling like Off! LOL
Beautiful, Mary. I liked to smell all these fragrant. My favorite scent are Lavender, Rose, Jasmine and Rosemary. But I could easily found Jasmine around my house. I can smell the fresh of Jasmine scent in the morning. This make my life so colorful and give me a new spirit. Thank you very much. I can't wait to rate this Up. Good to see you again. Have a great day!
Praetio :-)
Those scents all sounded good. This is an interesting hub. I love lavender especially.
Ok as a guy i am not to keen on pretty smells but they ARE better than nasty smells- I like the smell of steak, burgers, Hollandaise sauce, vanilla - soap or anything vanilla fragranty ( is that a word?) I also like baby powder for a general smell- Perfumes don't do it for me -i am not a big cologne guy escape for men is nice. I like rhe way I smell after being around an open fire woodburning all night or day - this smell and te heat also keeps mosquitos and buggers away- But I am naturally a big icky fella but an honest icky fella....
Nice hub- I think i dont even know what some of those smells you listed are I am a nasal illiterate.

I agree with the vanilla scent and it is my favorite. It reminds me of the taco bell commercial where the girl gets all the guys because she smells like bacon.

Sandalwood and Jasmine actually make me tense, but I love all the rest of your list. Great Hub and rated up.
Jasmine and lavender are so beautiful and relaxing. Either when it comes to Aromatherapy or bath salts (Radox), just divine. Really enjoyed this hub, very useful to know all the important scents. Lemon is great to wake on up. Love it on my pancackes and cereal. :)
Wonderful hub Mary. Its quite informative and it smells good :-). Keep up the good work.
I really enjoyed this so much!
Years and years ago I wore Love's Fresh Lemon all the time! When it went off the market I went to White Shouldars. But I so miss my lemon!!!
After reading about the smell of lemon here, now I understand why I liked it so much! Since I've always been a "go getter" at heart.
Thanks!
This is a very interesting and sensitive hub as it concerns with the reflection of body refreshment. It has given me a new light of thought as I am now on writing with the “Biology of Brain”. Thanks for sharing.
I enjoy Rose and Lavender but Sandalwood is great too. Scents are wonderful and can really aide you when you are stressed out after a long day. :)

Your'e right about vanilla (especially if it's in the form of a cake)! It's amazing how smells can trigger memories. Whenever someone walks around with too much perfume, I think to myself they must be on the prowl!
