The Endless Benefits Of Pets

Don't We Just Love Our Pets?
I know I'm not the only one out there who totally adores my dogs. I often think to myself, "What would life be like if I didn't have dogs.... it would be sad." I also often say to myself, "People who don't own pets, don't know what their missing." Of course, their are folks out there that have special reasons for not having pets, such as allergies for example. Then, we have the folks that just don't want a pet. Pets bring so much happiness and joy to our lives every single day, without asking for anything in return. The relationship you have with a pet can be one of the easiest, joyful friendships one can ask for. Those of us who love our pets, know and understand this. Though, some of us don't know the actual health benefits we gain from our lovable furry friends.
Pets Are Our Best Friends
Some of us are dog people, some are cat people, some of us just love them all! Whatever kind of animal person you are, you have a lot to gain from owning a pet. It seems that our animal pals really do offer us endless benefits.
People who own pets are less likely to suffer from depression.
Pets encourage us to get out and exercise!
Pets can encourage social contact between people.
Pets decrease feelings of loneliness.
Pets help to lower blood pressure.
Pets provide unconditional love.
Pets help to lift our moods.
Having a pet helps teach children responsibility.
Studies have shown, people who have had heart attacks can live longer if they own a pet.
Owning a pet can help increase longevity.
Animals are funny! Pets increase our laughter and sense of humor.
Those who own pets tend to recover from illnesses at a faster rate, in comparison to those who don't own pets.
Pets (dogs in particular) can be incredibly helpful for the elderly and people with medical conditions.
Forever Love
You've had an awful day at work, nothing has went your way all day. You stress at work about endless things. You sit in traffic and wait eagerly to get home. You walk in the door thinking of more problems. Your furry friend runs down extra excited to greet you. You immediately feel love and joy. All your daily problems just seem to melt away. Some of you know this exact feeling, some of us experience this everyday. One animal can make such a tremendous difference in our lives. For those of us that are fortunate to have this: we should really stop and appreciate it, shouldn't we? Our pets give us so many wonderful benefits everyday, and endless genuine, natural love.

I could certainly not live without my pets. They are my world! This hub is absolutely perfect and 100% right for sure!
Mary, I like this hub as I like pets and you listed a lot of great reasons to own one or more.
Great hub. Our pets are our children.
Great hub. And so true. Since the kids are grown and gone, my shepherds have willingly stepped into the role and acting like children, often joined by my husband. :)
I have a dog, three cats and numerous chickens. Wouldn't be without them. Great blog thanks for sharing.
Wonderful hub, and so true. Some of my best writing is about my pets, and some of my best times are with them. (: v
the endless benefits of pets is like the endless benefits of your hubs - I just don't want them to end!!!
I agree the small cost of caring for a pet is easily recouped by the health benefits, as well as, quality of life! Great hub!
WE HAVE 2 CATS AND AGHOST CAT THAT VISITS ME AT NIGHT AND WHEN i WAS IN THE HOSPITAL he was a Siamesse and very dog-like even played fetch with a paper ball.. buried in my backyard he was a good cat ....I miss him
I honestly am not out to put all this down because I know it is true but I have a cat sixteen years old and of course I love her or I would have killed her by now. She is so spoiled that even if her bowl is full of dry food I have to stir my fingers in it to make her think I added more. At night I have to go out many times and lead her to a tree she can get in and climb down, I guess she is the one cat that can't see in the dark! Great hub though ad I do love her, Ive even taught her to give kisses without contact of course! I say give me a kiss and she comes over and lifts her face to mine and then moves on, but she knows its a love thing. She did the same for my Mom who died this month but no one else.
You are correct pets can lift your spirits and make you smile. Good article
Great hub.I have one cat and a small kitten.Every day they show love in many different ways. They are independent until they need something.I have also lossed to cats that were both over 15 years old.You forget how much they played a big part of your family.Life has been so much better with them.
You are spot on MaryR. Endless and unconditional love. Can't beat it. :)

You nailed this on the head! No one is quite as loving and forgiving of we humans as our pets. Nice job!
